Scorecard
Description:
Donald Ross - 1946 plan. Built 1960-1962. This mid-sized par 5 curves gently to the left off the tee, and then plays straight away through some of HGC’s most beautiful bunkering. The trees on this hole (as on most of this nine) are majestic giants making one think one is in an arboretum. The trees frame the hole and serve to accentuate the seven bunkers that extend down to the green. The green is deceptively above the fairway and is deep from front to back.
How to Play It:
Your tee shot should carry the left fairway bunker for the best chance to reach the green in two. The shorter hitter can aim at the right fairway bunker and the ball will kick left into the middle. The second shot must be threaded through a series of fairway bunkers to the green. Your third shot will be more uphill than it looks so make sure to carry the ball well on to the green. Shots left somewhat short will slide off the right front half of the green.
