Scorecard
Description:
Devereaux Emmett - 1921. This par three is often rated one of the best in Connecticut. It was originally designed as a short par 4 and until recently the green remained small and very hard to hit. The green was expanded in the 1990s to better fit the 205-230 yard length. The boundary on the right can come into play as the prevailing wind comes from the left.
How to Play It:
This is one of those holes where slightly short is better than slightly long. The green narrows in the back half with a somewhat severe slope and a deep bunker on the left awaits the pulled shot. This green is approached best from straight on. Many players have their best chance for three from just short of the green. If you force the ball deep into the green and miss left, you face the hardest bunker shot on the course. Miss right and the pitch is equally difficult.
